Hole 1 – Banker’s Delight
Par 4 / 430 Yards
This hole, more than any other, presented the biggest headache to everyone involved with the construction of Graeagle Meadows Golf Course. The bank on the left had to be cleared by hand labor the entire distance from tee to green. The fairway was a swamp which required the installation of 2,000 feet of concrete drainage tile and then 35,000 cubic yards of fill material. It was by far the most expensive to build and there was a time when all construction stopped until additional money was available.
Pro Tip: Bring your best drive to the first hole. A long, abrupt dog leg left will test your ability. Favor the left side on your approach to a long narrow green.
